Block And Piston Differences?

Recommended Posts

HERMAN

I have a D6B block that I believe is a 1.9 XU but it is corroded. I have brought another block which I am told is out of a citroen volcan? I have just noticied that it has got B6D written on the plate am I right in thinking that this is a 1.6 block? Is it ok to fit new 1.9 liners and my old 1.9 pistons crank and con rods to a 1.6 block? The block also came with a set of pistons that I am now thinking are 1.6 pistons are they better than the 1.9 pistons?? (eg higher compression)

Also where is the best place to get new or good second hand liners??

Thanks

The 1.6 and 1.9 blocks are the same  no matter if it's a Citroen or Peugeot block .. and yes B6D is a 1.6 block but as i said it's same as 1.9 one bar the internals - crank , pistons/conrods .. just fit 1.9 crank pistons/conrods inside and you'll be fine B)

Regarding the pistons can we have a look ? picture will be nice :( , yes 1.6 pistons will push the CR up to 11.1 (but you'll need to press out the 1.6 conrods and press in 1.9 ones which is not so easy job ..)

Rgs ! B)

Just taken a couple of photos and thats when I noticed that the 1.6 pistons are worn out so it looks like I will be using my orginal 1.9 pistons after all.

Thanks again for the advice
