Another Gti 6 Conversion

Hi all,

I've got the lump in and the loom somewhere near ( ) - two questions if i may:

1. I know there is a shorter top mount available but I'm damned if I can find it in the search here. I'm sure it was a 16v ZX but I have a ZX breaker here and the mount on it is identical to that of the 1.9 GTi. The main clearance problem I'm having is the longer servo off a 406.

2. For those using the 6 speed 'box - have you used the original linkage from the 205? I've found an old BE1 stick with the lift up reverse but haven't bought the linkage yet...?

Regards, Rex

Hi Rex !,Nice to see you tackling another project after the turbo,As for the answers you seek use a n RS2000 engine mount along with a spacer to lower sufficiently (Never done it myself but it seems the way to go) and lower the gearbox mount accordingly and yes you use the lever from the top of the 205 gearbox.

If you use the search function along these lines I think you will find further info and eleboration on the above.

Cheers Tris. Heh, the turbo project derpessed me so much it made me forget the 205 until this '6 breaker turned up.

I'll be back soon with more dumb questions on the hated wiring

Oi! Isn't the fun doing it yourself? Even when you hate it?

Thanks for digging up that thread - that's the one I read before - what keywords did you use since I seem pretty inept at finding anything on the search here...

I'll confirm the Burton mounting is the dogs doodars for this conversion! I didn't need to modify the exhaust manifold and the brake master cylinder now fits perfectly!

Which gearbox mounting have others used, or is it just a case of spacing out the height difference to compensate?

Regards,

Rex
