Replacement For 205gti Oilcooler/heat Exchanger

Recommended Posts

Theo205

I recently had a problem with the oilcooler on my 1.9 GTi since it was damaged from the inside and was pumping oil into the cooling system.

After I disconnected the water hoses from the oilcooler everything was back to normal again.

I was thinking to ditch the heat exchanger and mount a proper air-oilcooler kit but im the guy who prefers to keep things simple under the bonnet so prefer to get a good one and just swap it.

Problem is that 205 GTi parts are not as common over here so I was htinking if theres a compatible heat exchanger from any other newer peugeot engine, 306?206?

Any ideas?

mind you my 205 is using the "remote" oil-filter assembly where the oil hoses for the filter run from the block to the side of the gearbox.

Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. If anybody has a heat exchanger in good working order and is willing to ship i will take yer offer through PM.

Thanx

Theo

I have a feeling that the exchanger from a 306 TD is the same, not 100% though, and I'm also not familiar with the remote oil filter setup you mention.

I'm quite sure its not the same since ive checked all models on the parts CD and none has the same part number as the 205 heat exchanger.

Of course it doesnt mean that i need the exact same part. Maybe another part will fit ok on the 205. I just need something to look for before I head to the scrap yard.

Anybody ?

BTW This is what i meant by "remote oil filter setup"

The 306 uses the same oil filter as the 205, therefore the diameter of the sealing faces and the threaded spacer that clamps the exchanger to the block (or remote head in your case) will be the same. On this basis I think it would work.
