M@tt 77 Posted April 11, 2008 Now i haven't even started my V6 conversion yet so this is just purely a random thought at the moment. Would fitting/attempting to fit a turbo onto a V6 in the front of a 205 be a daft idea? ie assuming you could get it to fit(which you porbably couldn't anyway), is the extra hassle/complexity going to mean all the extra power is pretty much wasted as it would be hard to maintain traction in a fwd car? just thought i'd kick it out there for a few opinions cheers
Powers 13 Posted April 11, 2008 I would say yes, it would be pointless with all that torque. But it would be an awesome project. Plus isnt there a twin turbo manifold for the V6 currently in production by DP?
M@tt 77 Posted April 11, 2008 well theres certainly a mainfold not sure about it being twin turbo though http://www.dp-engineering.nl/EN/products/e...bo_the_claw.php but at €1980.00 i think i'll pass!! just dont have that sort of money to spend on single bits definately a DIY effort if i did decide to do it! Rippthrough 98 Posted April 11, 2008 It's a very daft idea! Do it!
easypug 0 Posted April 11, 2008 If your going to the hassle of putting a V6 in it would be silly not to go the whole hog!
Arahan 4 Posted April 11, 2008 **cough** put it in the back **cough** **cough**
Powers 13 Posted April 11, 2008 In that case leave it NA it will be quick enough.
skeggyrik 3 Posted April 11, 2008 Do it and then forevermore be known as the first to have done it, I can see the future forum quotes already….. "M@tt did the first 3.0 V6 turbo conversion back in 2008, when petrol was still legal"
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) Matt, you really are a nutter, aren't you? I think the only point of doing it would be for the kudos. Just to show it can be done and to be the first to do it (unless someone else is doing it already on the quiet!). From a practical point of view, you'd be better to sling it in the back if you are going to turbo it. Frankly, given the shoe horn effort to get the V6 in the front, I reckon it would be nigh on impossible to get a turbo on too.....UNLESS.....you forego any sort of charge cooling and run a very low pressure set up. Batfink 201 Posted April 11, 2008 ease it off the line and then its warp 9!
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted April 11, 2008 Do it, Will just be silly, or why not use 2 engine's and 4 turbo's
pip470 61 Posted April 13, 2008 With the right gearing and wheels you could reduce the torque enough at the wheels to try and avoid wheel spin, have a look at andy nicholls 800 hp fwd rover on you tube, he runs a 10.2 @ 130 sumthing mph. I dont know the guy but have seen him race before. Ive not got a complete understanding but i can apreciate that his car has the torque to pull him through the really long gears. M@tt 77 Posted April 13, 2008 well i've spoken to oracle of all things V6 (hilgie ) and theres definately not enough room in the front for a turbo along with the V6. So i'll file that idea under stupid pub thoughts and move on
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 13, 2008 f*** it! Cut a bigg ass hole in the passenger side of the bonnet and fit it sticking out of the bonnet Perfect for airflow too.
