hodgy 0 Posted April 7, 2008 i went to donny at the weekend and didnt even make 1 lap! car set its self on fire! a wire off the coil(blue) melted its self and set on fire and cut the engine out half way down crainer curves. to get home i managed to find some wire and make a quick fix but i wanna fix it properly. do i 1.get a new loom 2. take my loom out and re place the melted wire? also id like a pic of a ph1 coil on the car as from the amp is a purple wire which clips onto the neg side of the coil then come straight off and has a clip that goes to no where. i would like to know where it goes after driving home i lost indicators, wipers and lights so its making me think ive got a bad earth making everything go funny
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted April 7, 2008 From memory a purple or blue wire on the coil sounds wrong. IIRC the wires are all black or red, but I might be wrong.
DamirGTI 342 Posted April 7, 2008 The purple wire with plug is for TDC sensor (if i'm not mistaken ) and on all cars with Ph1 coil it's not connected to anything .. (maybe it is on base models like on TU singlepoint engines , but not on GTi-s ..) i'll take a picture later Rgs ! Damir

hodgy 0 Posted April 8, 2008 thanx. so at least i know that wire doesnt do anything now. where that white block is it has 1 wire coming out of the loom and joins onto 2 wires, 1 from the coil and 1 from the ignition amp.one of the wires is blue! that is what has burnt out on mine
