205toby 0 Posted April 6, 2008 As the title says.. Am I the only one that gets fuel surge? It seems to do it at anything less than 1/2 a tank. Very anoying and I really don't want to run any more than half a tank on trackdays. I've been thinking of a boot mounted surge tank and external Bosh pump. Anyone done anything similar? Cheers and thanks in advance! Toby
jackherer 543 Posted April 6, 2008 Its a fairly common problem, there are definitely other threads on this subject. try searching for: +fuel +surge and make sure you are searching all forums. I found this straight away: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=78725
Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted April 6, 2008 i got terrible problems with this after fitting an early pump to a late tank . the pickups/sumps are different and when mixed give pretty poor results. what is the year of you're car and does the fuel pump have a connector directly on it , or short wires app 3" long then the connector ? Nathan 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Mine gets it real bad, 1/2 on the road and just less the 3/4 on track! When I pull my finger out I'm going to strip and inspect the pump (not sure if thats possible) as its probally a good few years old. If this doesn't improve things I'll rig up a fuel swirl pot with a secondary pump to feed it.
Baz 421 Posted April 7, 2008 Change to the other type of pump, i've found it's been that in my cases before.

Garry 1 Posted April 7, 2008 Your obviously not cornering fast enough then I get fuel surge since changing pumps, although this will be cured when I fit my Swirl pot and external Walbro pump.
