Mi16 Mainfold Help

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hello all,

i have this weekend off, so needing to do my mi16 exhaust. so i bought a while back a reangled manifold, so boltedit on last couple of months and connected it up to downpipe, but the downpipe is hanging very low when connected, so whole exhaust is hanging down.

i have a spare mi standard manifold, not angled etc, so if i bought that angle plate kit, would that cure my problem etc, would i still need to mod my stand 205 downpipe fi i got this angle plate? my engine isnt tilted by the way if you handnt guessed.

also searched high and low for answers, but no luck as such, it reads that buying a angle plate would cure my problem, juts want to check before i splashe out, plus any one on here sell the kits?

thanks

danny

When i did my down pipe, i took a grinder to where the d/p met the flange and cut the flange off. Then i removed the remaining part of the d/p from the flange. Attached the flange to the exhaust manifold then brought the downpipe to the manifold/flange to see how much pipe need to be cut off for the exhaust to sit right. :) Then got a mate to weld the flange to the newly cut pipe and hey presto!!

I had the d/p cut directly underneath the flange, an inch of material taken off, then the flange rewelded back on. Did the trick, the exhaust is a standard 2 piece bosal.

done mine today

assembled the exhaust completely (standard 3 piece bosal 205 exhaust )

worked out that it don't meet the manifold at quite the right angle.

so clamped the exhaust in a vice, heated the pipe and bent it very slightly..

re hung the exhaust and bolted it back up. It all works fine. no need for cutting and welding if you get a 3 piece exhaust

(from a pre 89 205 i think it was)

just in my experience anyway
