Oil Pressure Goes Down With Higher Revs?!

Hi,

coming back home on a motorway tonight, I noticed, at about 5000rpm, the oil pressure was down below the halfway point. As I slowed down, the pressure gauge went up to normal!

 

I chucked it into neutral, good pressure, but when I booted it, the pressure went down.

 

This sounds a bit backward to me, anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

 

It is a 1.9gti and I checked the oil thinking maybe it was low, but it was spot on.

Possible partial blockage of the oil pickup strainer? Ive seen it suggested on here before but cant remeber by who.

in the handbook it says it should be at about half in normal driving conditions. more pressure when cold, so i would think ur fine. ive never had any probs.
