Oil Gallery Filter

Recommended Posts

alexmi16

Im just about to put the cylinder head back on my 1.9 after changing the head gasket and stem seals. I've noticed the little gauze oil filter that sits in the cylinder head oil gallery has a pretty bad perforation down one side. I'm reluctant to re-use it as it might cause more harm than good. Does anyone know the part number for this? Also, would it be a bad idea to go ahead and reinstall the head without this filter as time is running out to get the car back on the road?

Cheers

Alex

Cheers for that! Managed to get one from Peugeot.

But, I've forgotten which oil gallery it goes in. Does anyone know if its the oil gallery on the cam belt or fly wheel side?

cheers

Hi !

Yes it goes in the hole on the timing belt side :) , this one :

Anyway i really wouldn't fit the head back without this filter or without cleaning him in the first place as you can be amazed how many rubbish (especially dangerous - metal/aluminum chips/particles left from head skimming) ends up inside this little filter ! and if not , if there's no filter , this metal particles (carried by oil) can damage the surfaces of the camshaft , bearing caps , cam followers and clog up the oil spray bar ..

Regards ! ;)
