shooter mcgavin 37 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) since i bought my car the cooling fan has never worked, proplay what cause the last owner to melt the head then the big ends. now that the 6 engine is in and running this would be a good time to sort it out. ok. the blue plug that goes to the rad switch looked in a bad way (half melted) so chopped 1 from a breakers as per pic. 1st question. whats the brown plug for 2nd. i have power going to the blue plug and when i add a live to the main fan wire from the battery i have lives from the 3 wires from the plug, the relay is live so is it just a buggred rad fan switch? sorry if this sounds confusing but its the only way i can try to understand what part is at fault cheers graham. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted April 1, 2008 The brown plug is just there as a test loom, doesn't plug in anywhere but if you bridge from the centre pin out to either side the fans will run at either low or high speed. There should be just one live to the fan switch / blue plug & then each feed is to the resistor for the fans afaik. I did have a spare loom for the fans somewhere, its only a short loom that runs between the shunt box, resistor & radiator switch. I'll have a look for it tomorrow hopefully & post what I figure out. Graham.
