M@tt 77 Posted March 29, 2008 My drivers wiper is over wiping and by that i mena its hitting the rubber window seal and going off the edge of the windscreen. This is having the effect that after a few minutes of wiping it knocks the wiper blade out of the clip on the wiper arm so it falls of and is basically dragged across the screen on its side. Now i'm going to try adjust it tomorrow by removing the arm and reattaching it pointing down slightly more. As you can hopefully see in this pic I have the wipers sat horizontal when they re at rest which is what i thought they should be like. Anyone experienced this before? craig f90 0 Posted March 29, 2008 I had it years ago on a astra. The splines on the arm had worn away causing the wiper to shoot up the screen and stay up. Yours may just need nipping up with a 13mm spanner. you can easily adjust them again if they are still traveling to far across or try flicking the ignition off when th wiper comes to stop at the top of the sweep, that sounds silly actually. But id say they are in the right place now.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 30, 2008 Interesting that this has come up Matt, as I have the same problem. Has yours just started happening randomly? Unfortunately my problem only came to light last year on a trip up to Edinburgh in the pishing rain, so I had to drive the entire journey using the wipers as sparingly as possible. Due to motorway speeds, mine would eventaully catch the A pillar and lock in place! I tried adjusting so the blade sat as low as possible in the parked position but that wasn't good enough. I thought maybe someone had fitted 309 wiper arms or something, but since looked at them and think they are 205 arms after all. I haven't fixed it as the cars been off the road since then, but the only thing I can think is that someone has buggered around with the linkage arms off the motor. I can't see any other explanation as to why the angle of sweep has increased. Definately update this if you find the cause and fix it.
jord294 92 Posted March 30, 2008 it's funny this topic has been posted. it's happened to me, exactly the same. only difference is, that i originally had a mono wiper fitted to my car, and i decided to put the twin wipers back on to keep the car original looking. well i must of tried 2 or 3 times, but i couldn't get it right, so put the mono wiper back on
GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 30, 2008 Was it a modified OE linkage for the single wiper conversion, or an aftermarket kit? What I'm getting at is, if it was a modified standard linkage, did you leave any part of it in place and simply add back the additional linkage bits when you tried to go back to standard? Arahan 4 Posted March 30, 2008 And me! About a week ago, but only on the passenger side! I just put the wiper on how it sould go then used some tiny and thin black zip ties to hold it on, then when the wipers were off and at their rest point, just pulled the passenger side up (the one that went to far) and now they're OK!
