What Is The Gasket Called On The Right Hand End Of The Cylinder Head?

Recommended Posts

rallyeluke

just transfering all the bits over from my old head to the new one and removed the metal end cap that the thermostat/ sensors etc are all connected to, to bolt onto my new head and i dont appear to have a gasket for it in my head gasket set.

what is the gasket called and where can i get one from?

i would of said its the thermostat housing gasket but its not.

cheers lucas

Just use RTV (or even silicon) sealant - no need for a gasket per-se.

And I personally would call it a thermostat housing gasket as well - anyone on a parts desk should know what you're talking about with that description anyway.

there are oil ways as well though? i dont want to accidentally block them up with sealant?

so silicon sealant or similiar is going to be up to the pressure that, that area is bound to produce?

It's fine - just use a thin smear. I never use gaskets for anything these days (except the headgasket) and I've never had any problem using sealant on most gasket faces.

If you want to use the gasket, the one you need is part number 1340 08 from Peugeot.

A massive £2.51 according to service box.
