Pob 1 Posted March 28, 2008 Hi all, I replaced the clutch cable about 4 months ago and it snapped for some reason, I've put another one on today and its extremely stiff. When you release the pedal you can lift your foot off the peddle and it comes up slowly. I though it was down to the cable but this seems fine. I've got a BE1 gearbox with the rubbish release arm, is it possible the release bearing has fell off the end of the arm? I've had this before when refitting the gearbox, but this caused the clutch peddle to go to the floor and lift back up. Am I just unlucky or have other people had problems with BE1 gearbox and the release arm? Thanks, Dan
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 28, 2008 sounds like the pivot on the gearbox is seized.
Pob 1 Posted March 28, 2008 sounds like the pivot on the gearbox is seized. I can move the arm freely, how wobbly is the arm suppose to be? I know it has the bush on the arm... is this suppose to be solid only allowing forward and back movement? Before the cable snapped it was fine Dan
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 28, 2008 is that the arm that bolts to the gearbox and the clutch cable inner attaches to? if that's fine, the cable is new as you say, and the pedal isn't seized then its got to be something inside the bellhousing, have you checked the gearbox to block bolts? Its all tight, up until the cable snapped everything was fine. Put a new cable on, now its really stiff. The arm I mean is the one that has the rubber donut on it and it pivots on the ball, has the clutch release bearing on the end of it. Thanks, Dan
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 28, 2008 I mean the one that the clutch cable pulls on, the triangle shaped one with a bolt through one corner, this pushes the clutch release arm.
