Bakes100 20 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2008 I have a slight knocking from the front of my 205 gti, after looking at the droplinks the bottom link on both sides is as floppy as...something thats very floppy! I have a receipt with the car that says new ones were fitted at the beggining of last year about 10k ago. Is this common? or may there be something else causing them to fail prematurely. Also they are ECP ones, would peugeot ones last longer? Thanks
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted March 26, 2008 My O/s one has done 127,000 miles been on since new. I'm on my 3rd N/S one - Pattern.
Anthony 1,003 Posted March 26, 2008 Really seems to be a lottery with pattern drop-links, much like pattern wishbones. I've got two droplinks from GSF but were slightly different styles and thus I assume from different manufacturers - one is still fine after 30k miles, and the other was fit for the bin after less than a third of that. GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 26, 2008 Also they are ECP ones, would peugeot ones last longer? Have a look at what Pug charge for them and then decide if it's even worth considering Let's just say it'd have to be an investment rather than 'routine maintenance'. Bakes100 20 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2008 Yea i just looked on the service box !!?! , are they made out of unicorns toenails or something. I used to go for the Lemforder bits on my 306 as these seemed pretty good, are they usually good for pattern parts?
GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 26, 2008 I just bought some Delphi ones from eBay for £30. Can't advise on quality, but at least they are branded unlike most on eBay. I did ask on here for opinions, but only had one reply from John Simister and he reckons they should be fine.
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 26, 2008 I think the ones I got from GSF 3 years ago were wither Lemforder or Febi-Bilstein ones, still fine now some 12k on and still look like new they were about £30 for the pair then.
Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2008 There isn't really much to a drop link, Where would I start if I were to build some heavy duty ones? They cant work out that expensive surely

Rippthrough 98 Posted March 26, 2008 There isn't really much to a drop link, Where would I start if I were to build some heavy duty ones? They cant work out that expensive surely Step 1: Call in up here Step 2: Leave with a lighter wallet.
Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2008 How much lighter would my wallet be Mr Ripp? for a pair.
Spiky 37 Posted March 27, 2008 rose jointed, Whiteline do them already though. i'm thinking of this, can anyone see any downsides?? apart from cost, which i dont care about i also assume will be better, as i can put more force on the ARB?
