McPikie 0 Posted March 26, 2008 Can some one do me a quick favour and measure the ride height of their standard 1600 GTI please. Say ground to middle of arch, or wheel rim to middle of arch. I've just put new shocks and springs on and it looks/feel really high up
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted March 26, 2008 You've caught me in a good mood so I've just been out with a tape measure, Centre of front wheel centre cap vertically to centre/top of front wheelarch, 13 3/4", or 350mm if you prefer. That is on my completely standard (suspension wise) 205 GTI 1.6 so with 14" wheels.
McPikie 0 Posted March 26, 2008 cooli I run 1900's, but I am sure that is only 5mm or so. It just looks like I am constantly accelerating
richsmells 2 Posted March 26, 2008 The hubs are different on the 1.6 so fitting 1.9 wheels will appear to increase the ride height. You will have a wider front track though.
Longun 1 Posted March 27, 2008 You also might find it a takes a few miles for them to settle.
McPikie 0 Posted March 27, 2008 Well, it's standard prings and uprated GMax shocks. Feels soooo much better, but looks weird. maybe I was just used to it being in the weeds with the old, lowered, but very saggy springs on. Might whip a coil off this weekend just to be on the safe side, lol
