applemobile 0 Posted March 25, 2008 i have got the manifold of a 2.0 8v, what turbo is the best for me to use for a 1.9 8v conversion. im keeping it cheap, so turbo off any other cars? my knowledge of turbo numbers size's ect is limited!
Mikey G 3 Posted March 25, 2008 I dont think any other turbo will fit that manifold without an adapter of some sort. Also i think the XU9 and XU10 heads have different exhaust ports anyway so the manifold may not fit.
applemobile 0 Posted March 25, 2008 i got told on here it would fit :huh:i got told on here it would fit
jackherer 543 Posted March 25, 2008 it'll fit the head but your turbo choice is limited to the original unless you use some sort of adaptor plate.
Mikey G 3 Posted March 25, 2008 I am not sure, been a while since i looked at an XU9 head (i have one on the drive but its in one piece lol) i may be wrong. I definatly know the inlet side IS different. But the turbo side of it is only designed for the original 406/Xantia turbo. A Garret T3 from an Escort RS would be cheap or a Nissan 200SX turbo is another option but neither will fit the standard manifold from what i gather.
danpug 1 Posted March 26, 2008 The manifold will definitely fit. As said the turbo flange is not a standard t25 one but i bet it wouldn't cost too much to get an adapter made up for it. The only problem with that though is space is very limited at the back of the engine. Best to find a standard 406 turbo.
Anthony 1,003 Posted March 26, 2008 Paul at 205Parts sells turbo manifolds similar to the original Turbo Technics items that have a standard T25/T28 style flange on them, which are plentiful second hand and quite reasonable new. If you're using the original 2.0 8v Turbo manifold you've got, you'll realistically have to use the standard 2.0 8v turbo because of the different flange - if you're going to the hassle/expense of making adapters then you might as well by the correct manifold in the first place. Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted March 26, 2008 I'm going to be having a go at an adaptor plate on the standard manifold, will have to see how it goes but from my initial investigation there looks like there is loads of meat to drill and tap into the standard manifold. We'll see.
