[engine_work] Well I've Started My Sorrento Gti6 Project

Recommended Posts

welshpug

when wiring in a GTi6 and an S16 I used the original starter motor feed cable, as the Engine bay shunt/fusebox is fed from the same crimped on battery terminal.

i cant remember who though  but a massive thanks to him its done the trick

i also put 3 washers on the bottom pin of the pedal box

2 on the next 2 pins

one on the next 2

and none on the top just the foam to seal it

i also put 2 washers on the bottom 2 pins of the servo

i'll see how it goes how it is now first.

But i have a spare pedal box to take one off if there are any nice friendly welders out there

I had plans for sorting the rest of the car in the next month or so

but due to the credit crunch i'm no longer earning as much due to work reducing my hours.

All my spare cash now has to go on sorting the nursery out

Aint babies expensive!

i've got to take the engine back out :D

ive tried everything but cant seem to get the exhaust to clear the seam on the exhaust tunnel

it almost seems like the engine is twisted, which is turning the engine towards the servo

th_205rebuild020.jpg

so everything is coming off again and i'm gona cut the exhaust manifold to get a better angle

no added about 10mm to it

i've tried it without the mount in place and it still wont sit square

i may try slackening the battery tray to see if that has any play in it

i'm thinking of cutting the exhaust tunnel out like you have as well while the welder is out

god you bloody pushy :)

With the help of Dr Sarty, i've sorted the tensioner for the alternator.

Its off a audi 90 and fits like a dream

I've tried adjusting what i can to pull the engine round but its done nothing!

So next weekend its coming back out.

I used instant gasket for the inlet and think i used too much, it wouldn't have been very good for the airflow as it had squeezed out and had oozed out into the inlet ports.

Coming along now!

What belt did you use on the alternator? Are you still keeping the PAS on?

I need to find a belt for mine, but I'm not running PAS

Also, whats the oil pressure sender from?

I have the gti6 lump in my 205 and run just the crank and alternator, i run a 5pk 685mm belt and just turned it on by rotating the engine.

i haven't bought a belt yet

I've removed the pas

The pressure sensor is off an 306 s16

would i be right in saying that the gti6 conversion is much much easier, when not using pas or a/c ? , as that will be the case for me.

yeah its much easier.

What i did was take everything off bar the alternator then go searching for a tensioner
