that setup you pictured is like the S16/2.0 Mi16 Pete, it'll work if there's enough clearance to the rad off the PAS pump, which I'm unsure if there is.

if you do get it you'll need to get the top arm and bracket as well.

i started to take it all off, then thought it didnt look right. I took the pics and left it there. I'm gona get all new ones, i'm doing the cambelt and water pump anyway so might as well get them all at the same time. So there's £250+ that i never really budgeted for :D. I've also just taken delivery of a phase 1 oil cooler rad, plate and pipes, so that should solve the oil cooler pipe's problem........ Shouldn't it?

just a quick up date.

I haven't done anything to the car for a while

Firstly i bought a 16v 205 that i'm taking loads of bits off for mine

Exhaust, coolant pipes and a few other bits

I'm using an electric power steering pump now, so that solves the alternator belt problem

I've sent my loom off to be sorted by gti si

So hopefully my engine will be in and running in the next 2/3 weeks

Woo hoo

excellent work mate

Get yoruself down your local B&Q and get some plumbing connectors to make the T piece from the expansion tank to the heater matrix and the pipe that goes to the distribution block on the back of the block.

Also B&Q do a 32mm metal table leg for about £2.50 which is perfect for joining the existing 306 top water hose to some 8v ones to go to the radiator

Cant you just use a housing off the back of an s16 block instead of using t-pieces and making up your own hoses? im sure it would look a much tidier install and you would be able to retain the original 205 heater and expansion tank hoses?

Yes you can and it does make it look ten times neater, ive done it on mine now. Also using T-pieces fundamentally upsets the flow of coolant through the system, as the header tank is plumbed in in totally the wrong place. Since changing to the S16 housing ive seen temps alot more stable and less tendancy for the car to get hot in traffic.

You have to be careful with the routing of the hoses past the exhaust manifold as there isnt alot of space, but it does mean you can completely do away with the metal water pipe on the back of the block and plug up the connection into the thermostat housing.

right, latest update

everything is ready to go in

i'm just wondering what clutch to use, i can get hold of a 2.0 mi clutch quite quickly, but i'll have to wait few weeks for a 1.9 one

will the 2.0 one fit?

also waiting to get some wishbones, i know most of the patern parts are crap and the bushes need replacing for pug ones

so does anybody have the part numbers for the bushes and where's best to get the wishbones from?

2.0 one is the same as the gti6 clutch, pull type, 1.9 Mi/bx16v is the most commonly used clutch as its Push type and works straight off with 1.6 and 1.9 BE1 and 3 boxes.

try phoning your local motorfactors for the wishbones but check out www.buypartsby.com for a price guide, they were the cheapest i found including delivery gives you a haggling point with your local factors :D

thanks gents

will get some wishbones ordered in a min, just been to peugeot and ordered the bushes, tried to get the clutch cover bolt that i need but they only come in packs of 20, they cost 2.40 each so thats a no no.

Will go the scrap yard tomorrow or monday instead for that

Will get a clutch ordered later as well, then the engine is ready to go in :D

just sorting out what i need for the cooling

i took delivery of a s16 water distribution block, just wondering how people have plumbed thiers in?

as it has 4 pipes coming off it

one goes round to the radiator/oilcooler

2 must go to the heater matrix

what about the other one?

they are also very close to the exhaust manifold

pics would be great  diagrams would be just as good

One goes for the bottom hose obviously, one is for the header tank hose, the other is for the heater hose with the bleed screw in it. The fourth one is not used, bung it off. There is another type of distribution block with 3 outlets (ive got one ), but i cant remember what it came off, i just trawled the scrappies and happened to find it. Ive got a feeling its off a diesel 205...

Depending on the legth of your header tank hose you may have to make it a bit longer at the distribution block end to clear the manifold. Mine went on fine, but ive done another that needed extending.

And yes they are close to the manifold, but thats always the same with the '6 conversions. Mine are close but ive been running with it every day for a month now with no ill effect.

ive been thinking about my cooling again ;)

this is what i've come up with

my cooling plan

i'm using a s16 water block with 4 water exits

i've cut the black pipe and added a hose to it so i dont have to bung it off

what i want to know is would it be ok to add a hose to the other end of the black pipe and the header tank? (the red arrowed line)

went to fit my gearbox today

The bell housing is full of black oil!

Could the cause of it be the input shaft oil seal?

Re: The cooling system, that layout looks fine, but how about blocking off the fourth port on the S16 dist block, taking off the metal water pipe, and then running the hose back to the header tank from the small outlet on the back of the stat housing? Would make it tidier, but i suppose with your method you dont have to block anything off.
