christopher 5 1 Cars Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) Ok I just found out that the brake discs that I was about to use are actually Made In China (CPS Autoparts) Thank heaven for Google I suppose these might be ok. But to be on the safe side I'm going to take them back. I'm wondering now if I should pay the extra and get some slightly better ones (maybe sent to Denmark) What discs have people good experience with? I see the OMP ones are failry cheap (at £69) I might add that these are for a (1.6 Gti) actually a Rallye but the discs are the same. Thanks Edited March 24, 2008 by christopher
ifcho 0 Posted March 24, 2008 I think that quite many of the major brake manifacturers have gone taiwan/china route.. At least so I have heard for D2 and Brembo
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted March 24, 2008 There may be some s*ite to come from China, but there is also some reasonable quality gear coming over these days. I'd try them, if they warp quickly or wear quickly send them back.

engine killer 6 Posted March 25, 2008 As a Chinese myself, I do not want to say the quality of product from my motherland is bad, but you have to choose the right manufacturer. My car has so many custom made parts from China and almost all of them work pretty well (apart from exhaust mid box and rear box, but the manifold works excellent). The trumpets quality is even better than Jenvey. From my opinion, I think brake disc is safe to try but surely not master cylinder. Also, do not trust those small manufacturer (from China) selling in fleabay, most of them are........ you know what i mean
christopher 5 1 Cars Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Well ok I know just because they are made in China doesn't mean they are of bad quality I suppose. However this is a chinese company and not a european company that has outsourced to China. Actually on the plus side the products on their site look pretty good. They even make racing pistons... http://www.cps-autoparts.com/ One might think that the qulity control would be better in EU manufactured facilities. Nathan 0 Posted March 25, 2008 WHERE stuff is made has no bearing on anything. HOW it is made is what's important Not when the base material is shockingly bad. China may have destroyed the UK steel market, but they'll never be able to compete when real high quality material is required. I'm pretty sure they can make a set of brake discs though, even for a track car (which usually have to withstand a lot more abuse than a racecar does).
