Project205 0 Posted March 24, 2008 Hi All, I am just about to remove the wheels to have them referbed, question is where is it safe to place the axle stands front and rear? Many thanks, David
jord294 92 Posted March 24, 2008 for the front, i'd put them under the chassis rails, as close forward to the sub frame as poss and for the rears, i'd just put them under the rear beam
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) I'd put them under the subframe and beam tube, anywhere else seems to be a bit soft! Edited March 24, 2008 by welshpug
Project205 0 Posted March 24, 2008 Thanks for the advice guys. Wheels are now off, degreased, tar removed and washed ready for the tyres to be removed tomorrow. Once the tyres are removed, I will be sanding down just the very lip of the rim and centres (1.6 wheels) where the lacker has pealed a little. Then a new layer of lacker will be applied and some Michelin Pilot Exaltos fitted. Amazingly the wheels do not have one kerb mark on them after 17 years!
