Problem Removing Main Bearings On Mi16

Recommended Posts

smokey

Hiya guys

In the last stages of stripping my Mi16 engine but i've hit a problem.

I've removed all the big end shells and bearings and have removed the pistons.

I then moved onto the main bearings and shells so i can take out the crank. I managed to take out all of the main bearings apart from number 3 in the middle.

This one was not secured by long bolts like the others. This one had bolts which were screwed into the block and fixed with nuts at the top. To make things easier i removed these bolts with an extractor hoping that the shell would then pull off easier, but its not budging. It moved abit left and right when i hit it with a rubber hammer.

I've even tried pulling the crank from the engine hoping the shell would fall off now its not secured by the bolts, but its stuck big time!!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

yes there's a bolt on either side of the cap that goes through the front and back of the block.

first one I done was luckily a scrap block as I cut it out with a grinder before noticing the side bolts :P
