chrisj21 2 Posted March 18, 2008 Just after some quick advice on changing the oil pump. Am i correct in thinking i need to remove the sump and just undo the oil pump and simply replace it? or are there any other parts or things to remove once the sump is of? thanks
StuF215 1 1 Cars Posted March 18, 2008 If its on a 1.9 then you'll have to remove the strengthening/spacer plate also, think its 1 or 2 5mm allen bolts in diagonal corners. Once the sump is off. Remember where the bolts go as they are different lengths. Same story with the oil pump, 3 11mm bolts im sure. Usually will have a L shaped spacer in between pump and block. Once they are off the pump will hang on the chain, move the pump back away or toward the crank pulley a little so the sprocket end can be angled up to give more slack, it can be a right pain in the cheeks sometimes but other times it comes off sweet. Getting chain back on is usually harder. But yeah once the pump is off simpily bolt the new one on, helping the chain on. nothing else to play with. Fitting is reverse of removal Stu
