gerlewislewis 0 Posted March 15, 2008 I was just over to Welshpug's place to get my clutch changed, and I cant get the car to start! Its turning over, cranking, but not sparking to life. I tried doing it on the down hill in my street but still no joy. I did have it running for 3-4 minutes before this on my drive in an effort to warm it up. But now I want to actually drive it it wont start?! (on a side note im trying to start it in 1st as the clutch has gone) Maybe I have flooded the engine is my only guess, how long does that take to clear? Any advice guys? its currentyl stuck half way down the street, and I dont have any way of getting it back!! Ger
welshpug 1,666 Posted March 15, 2008 try and see if there's a spark, pull the lead off plug 4 (timing end) and rest the lead on the engine mounting and you should see it spark away if its strong, ideally stick a spare plug in the end of it earthed to the mounting again. gerlewislewis 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Well, jump leads did it, It was due to the fact that I had been starting it in 1st gear (cos the the knackered clutch), it had taken its toll on the battery.
