Peetypug 5 Posted March 15, 2008 i've searched but there is no definative topic for fitting one of these engines, so just a few questions for now 1, will my magnex 4 branch fit? (its off my 1.9) 2, if it does, will i need to modify it in any way? eg lambda sensor? 3, what top engine mount do i need (the part from top of the engine to the inner wing)? will my bbm top mount still be useable or should i get a different one? 4, will the engine need re-angling? 5, are there any other parts i will need to fit this? if somebody could point me in the direction of a gti6 topic that would be great thanks in advance your all wonderful wonderful people

whizzer71 0 Posted March 15, 2008 i've searched but there is no definative topic for fitting one of these engines, so just a few questions for now 1, will my magnex 4 branch fit? (its off my 1.9) No it wont, aprt from that the 6 manifold is a work of art and should be used where ever possible ! 2, if it does, will i need to modify it in any way? eg lambda sensor? ,No it wont fit 3, what top engine mount do i need (the part from top of the engine to the inner wing)? will my bbm top mount still be useable or should i get a different one? I have used a BBM one in the past but some other people now use an RS2000 mount and lower the gearbox mount also, again theres a few ways around this I guess what ever suits your personal taste 4, will the engine need re-angling? Some people do re angle,I personally dont 5, are there any other parts i will need to fit this? a few parts, Gti 6 de cat down pipe for starters and various other odds and ends ,theres plenty of threads on here covering this topic,I was debating doing another one soon and may document it all in a thread on here from a "Start to Finish" perspective with pics and naratives all the way along. Hopefully this may go a way to helping you
Peetypug 5 Posted March 17, 2008 sorry just a few more questions i've been thinking about the problem of the m/c clearance if i put a few washers on the bottom bolts for the servo will this clear up the issue? would i then be able to run the engine at the correct angle? if its running at the correct angle what issues will i find with the exhaust? will it mate up to a standard 1.9 item? please somebody make a gti6 fitting guide.......ppllllleeeeeaaaaaassssseeeeeee
TurboSam 5 Posted March 17, 2008 have you started doing the conversion yet? it will all become clear and you should be able to work the easy stuff out yourself but FYI, the extended bottom mount is to clear the manifold ...

BuD 0 Posted March 17, 2008 (edited) if i put a few washers on the bottom bolts for the servo will this clear up the issue?would i then be able to run the engine at the correct angle? if its running at the correct angle what issues will i find with the exhaust? will it mate up to a standard 1.9 item? All IMO from doing 1 conversion only. 1. It will help, you cant go too mad tho because of the length of the bolts (and desire not to weaken the already flimsy area), 2/3 washers on the bottom studs, and 1 on the middle (so as not to warp it) 2. No not with the gti6 manifold, to do this requires lowering, or tilting. 3. The exhaust flange will mate with the gti6 manifold but the down pipe (1.9) needs shortening and reangling. Theres pretty much only one way the end of the manifold can sit and and exhaust be fitted that clears (unmodified) bulkhead and subframe.
