Help With Clifford Car Alarm

Recommended Posts

gerlewislewis

Hi guys,

my new 205 has a clifford alarm, pretty sophisticated too, but the touble is, the doors lock themselves after about 20 seconds and the car gets armed. It is impossible to do any work under the bonnet as the alarm keeps going off! or if I want to sit in it to hoover it without the engine running, the same thing happens!!!

Anyone know if I can disable this feature? or at least prolong the un-armed state!

Im going to have a clutch change done tomorrow, and this will be a nightmare!

Ger

Mine is the same and it can be a pain in the ass! If i have to do anything to the car i'll turn the ignition on and unlock the doors (once they lock themselves). This will stop the alarm engaging itself. I also leave the window open a little just in case it decides to lock itself, it hasn't yet though!

im looking on the clifford website, it says to press the button that looks like headlights, and the star at the same time to enter valet mode.

goodness knows if this works! Id like it to be like most modern cars: once unlocked and disarmed, it should stay that way!

could do with finding the exact model of your alarm but found this

Select the feature you wish to program from the table below.

1. Note the number of flicks and chirps.

2. Turn your vehicle’s ignition switch to its “ON” position.

3. Immediately flick the valet switch back and forth, counting the number of chirps youhear. Stop when you reach the number of chirps associated with the feature you wishto program.

4. If noted, perform the “Secondary action.”

5. Wait 3 seconds. You will hear 1-5 chirps (as noted in the “Program completionconfirmation” column) and the LED will turn off. Turn the ignition off.

6. Repeat steps 1-5 for any other features you wish to program.

Feature Factorysetting # offlicks &chirps Secondaryaction Programcompletionconfirmation Result

AutoArming ON 4 — 1 chirp = OFF/2 chirps = ON Change state from ON to OFF or vice-versa

AutoArm& Lock OFF 5 — 1 chirp = OFF/2 chirps = ON Change state from OFF to ON or vice-versa

I had an alarm like this on my calibra, it was a toad so probably different but will be the same idea.

On mine, to change settings you had to turn the ignition on, off, on, off, on, then the led would start flashing slowly, you had to count the flashes then turn the ignition off then back on so it would start flashing slowly again, then you repeat this until you put the 4 digit code in that's supplied with the alarm, if you don't have the code you can get it from the manufacturer but only by sending the alarm unit to them, once the code is in there's a menu to go through by using the remote buttons.

Basically, the only way to do it would be to get hold of the setup manual for your alarm and have the code handy!

Or, you could disconect the battery while you work on it!!

cheers guys. I have downloaded a clifford 400 concept pdf, and am working my way through that.

I think this is my model, but need to wait till I get the service history from Feb.

I will give it a go tomorrow, somewhere rural, as its mighty embarassing in the street!

Press the clifford button twice, then the lock button...this will put it in valet mode and will stay there till you put the keys in the ignition and turn.

As I said in my e-mail and Alastairh mentions, press the 2 left buttons on the keypad simultaneously. The indicators will blink twice and the LED on the dash will be permanently ON. The alarm is now deactivated until the next time you turn on the ignition, It's a Clifford Concept 300 IIRC.

I didn't realise you could press the top two buttons and it would stop it making that irritating noise when arming/disarming, tried it today. Brilliant.

Buy a CliffNet wizard lead, download the free software from Clifford.com, and then you can hook up youor laptop (if you have one) straight in to the main control unit of the Clifford alarm. It's not a bad bit of software, and you can change many of the settings, including that annoying autoarm feature you describe, add and remove key fobs, change what the buttons do, etc etc. Easier than using the valet switch or keyfob buttons.
