Subaru Brakes.

i searched for this but to no avail. I been looking for a nice brake upgrade, i happen to know that you can with a little work fit the brembo callipers of a 406 on a subaru imprezza. So what are the chances of fitting imprezza callipers on a 205?

are you going by the advert set thats on ebay at present, you can get most things to fit if you work at it, but costs are the factor, 307 hdi / 306 gti-6 being a bolt on mod is it worth it?

i saw that on ebay!!! ebay. Not that i can see any reason that anyone would replace subaru brakes with ones off a french rep-mobile. i know other conversions are possiable, but i also been looking down the line of harder, more pointless, modifications that the only good thing they do is add a little ''wow'' factor to the car. such as callipers of a porche/ferrari or some other expencive flashy car like that. i guess with an adapter bracket made up and an adapted brake line?

i thought the brembo's from a 406 dont even fit under a 15 inch rim? you'll need a bigger disc with the right offset aswell, and then the thing will be so massively overbraked at the front, and on too small a master cylinder that it would just be silly to even think about it.

its a much bigger job than you anticipate............

I had Brembo's similar to 406 ones on my 205 (with a larger bore mc) and didn't think it was over braked at all?

As said the Brembo's do fit 15's with good spoke clearance or the use of spacer's (Not so good), Allot lighter than the massive weight of the GTi6 or HDI caliper's, There are ton's of the 406 caliper's kickinng around the £200.00 mark just use a Xanitia V6 disc and off you go

I agree. Why go down some difficult path that will take time and money - and then might not work out at all? Why not reap the benefit of the shared knowledge of the 205GTI brethren, that have shown the simple, efficient and effective path?

I should know; I'm waiting for new braided hoses to suit the RX7 4 pot calipers with 283mm discs and OZ 15x7 wheels I just "fitted" to my 1.9 205GTI! I say "fitted" because it has taken flippin' weeks (admittedly including the FEA of different adapter designs).

and that requires no bias valve to sort out the braking force does it?

under a 15 inch speedline then?

So do the calipers bolt directly to the 1.9 Gti hubs? Presume they dont?

Diameter wise yep.

It's the spoke clearance thats an issues with basically every wheel ever made. I think there are only a few that will clear without spacers.

No, just standard compensators which 99.9% of 205 owners run. On a rally/race car just spec the mc's right, jobbed.

Not under standard wheels but they're s*it for clearance. I had MO's and RL7's which both needed nothing and there's other wheels that are the same

They will go under standard wheels with spacers, its not the diameter thats the problem its the spokes.

I had Compomotive FR's and needed spacers for them to fit, It didn't matter as they needed spacers to bring them away from the inner wing anyways! B)
