fletch 0 Posted March 12, 2008 I have a XU10J4RS head that has suffered a previous cambelt snap. The previous owner has new valves fitted and said he can't recall it tapping after being rebuilt. However to be sure can I just do a visual inspection of valve guides for damage?
BuD 0 Posted March 15, 2008 As I understnad it when these heads are rebuilt it is important to change the guides as well as the valves as you need to be really accurate for it not to tap. I dont think you can confirm its good by visual inspection of the built up head although you may be able to tell whats been changed and see if the valves are not obviously sealing. Hopefully someone else with more experience will confirm. I think though you may have to trust it has been done right and try it.
fletch 0 Posted March 18, 2008 I might just get them done while the head is stripped.
