veloce200 3 Posted March 11, 2008 sticking a new gasket on the 205 (it's been on the way out for 3 years so it's amazing it lasted this long with a turbo on it !) at present. factors say they can offer me 1.25 mm or 1.5mm? it's 88 model with torx head bolts - 1.9 xu9ja - anyone know? thanks very much
DamirGTI 342 Posted March 11, 2008 (edited) Hi ! I like to use thin 1.25/1.30mm gaskets in order to keep the squish clearance lower down to assist combustion ... but both of them 1.25 mm and 1.50mm will do just fine Regards ! Damir EDIT :wait a minute just spotted now , you have turbo on this engine ? if so then id chose the thicker one 1.50mm Edited March 11, 2008 by DamirGTI
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted March 11, 2008 As Damir says the thin gasket aids squish which helps achieve a more complete combustion, but if you are running turbocharged then a slight drop in CR could be to your advantage. I'm making the same consideration at the moment and haven't decided which way to go yet!
DamirGTI 342 Posted March 11, 2008 Sorry for OT but on how much pressure are you running this engine ? which piston type , DKZ ones ? Looks like it's been built properly if it's lasted for 3years Rgs ! Damir
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted March 11, 2008 it's a rather interesting setup explained in this thread: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=81960 in which you have participated already . and it wasn't that long ago either!

veloce200 3 Posted March 13, 2008 thanks. seems the different types are for hex (thinner) or torx (thicker) bolts. i have torx bolts so went with thicker one thinking of turbo as well. engine is original engine. has had a tough life - new shells after oil pump sheared off at 7000rpm. overheated regularly for last 3 years, turboing finally brought the gasket to an early demise. all good now though sounds better than ever!
