easypug 0 Posted March 11, 2008 I've tried to get hold of Matt at QEP but the phone has been engaged for over an hour now. I need an answer fairly sharpish as i'm going out and need to drop the head off at my local engineering place. The head will be running with a Piper fast road cam if this makes a difference a search never brought any thing up but i know Anthony runs a similar spec. wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted March 12, 2008 well ive been told from good sources that the XU10 and XU9 are the same heights so you shouldnt need to take anythin off, i skimmed 60thou off my XU9 head to take me to about 10.9 cr but this is the maximum to go to or ull start gettin troubles
28CRAIG 2 Posted March 12, 2008 The head is to go on my car and with the head being 2mm bigger bore than the xu9 but the same height will the head not need skiming to get the cr back up? Have you got a vernier to adjust the cam timing or is it fine not to use one with a 60thou skim?
28CRAIG 2 Posted March 12, 2008 Does any one know the chamber volume on the xu10 head i seem to have 36cc is this correct? that would give a cr of about 8.9 without a skim so a 1.6mm skim would give a 10.
Dom9 2 Posted March 17, 2008 I think Matt took about 1.5mm to 2.0mm off mine, but that was one of the first done and that was many years ago now and I was looking for over 10.5:1... 1.6mm sounds about right...
16v205 9 Posted March 17, 2008 Ive had 1.65mm off a xu10 head im building for a mate. Rich
easypug 0 Posted March 17, 2008 It did get 1.6mm in the end and will be finished off tonight, I'm sure Craig will let people know the results. This also runs around 10.5:1 CR I can't remember the exact figure.
28CRAIG 2 Posted March 23, 2008 Well it's all built up and running with a test drive to Llandow on saterday night. It will be going on the rollers soon to see if it's made any diffrance to the ported and polished head that was on before but it does seem to have more power and torque across the whole rev range but that could be because i was driving a diesle for two weeks.
