Removed My Mi Sump

Recommended Posts

I only got my mi back on road at wkend after being off the road last 2 years and the sump had developed slight leak and also the tappets are not as quite as they used to be so i took sump of today and noticed the oil pump pick up gauze thing was covered in dirt and what looks like bits of blue paint so cleaned it all out and hopefully thats why my tappets bit noisy.Lucky though as was thrashing it round at wkend and just imagine if it blocked completely.Only thing i think of is when my mate sprayed my cam cover blue bits have gathered on inside of cam box.fingers crossed its goin to sound nice and quiet again.

When I removed mine there were small pieces of the metal gauze laying at the bottom of the sump, prob from filter in oil filler pipe.

Hoping that the filter stopped them from doing any damage, I've changed the oil pump just in case
