Oil Temperature Sensor, Where From?

hey, i have a 1.9 gti and my oil temperature sensor is broken.

 

anyone know where i can get a replacement?

Are you sure the sensor is broken? The wire runs next to the exhaust manifold and is therefore prone to breaking.

100%, i earthed the wire and the dash display measured full

Most motor factors should be able to get you one, I think they are about £10 but can't remember for sure. Failing that either a scrapyard or Pug.

ok, im an idiot, i have a whole 1.6 engine in the garage. does anyone know if the oil sensors from the 1.6 and 1.9 are interchangeable? i'd presume they are!

Just be aware that the early and later sumps have a different thread size. Not sure when the changover was, maybe 92-93.

ok, it should be ok because one car is a 1990 and the other is a 1992 i think!
