2052006 10 Posted March 9, 2008 When braking on full lock (or near full lock) such as at parking speeds, my brakes make a nasty "crunching" type of noise which I can feel through the pedal as well. Any ideas what might be causing this? They are standard 1600 - ie bendix ones I think - and they make that clonking noise as per usual on reverse. Not worried about that so much as the horrible crunching noise they're making as described. Any suggestions? Thanks
2052006 10 Posted March 10, 2008 Anyone? It's just passed its MOT and had an advisory for front brake hoses slightly deteriorated (for 3rd yr running!). Could this be causing it? Or maybe worn calipers (sliders). Don't know why it only does it on full lock though....
MrG 3 Posted March 11, 2008 any rust or debris getting in there when you turn? Have you had the pads out at all?
2052006 10 Posted March 11, 2008 Pads have not been out since last summer when I cleaned the discs/calipers up a little. Have been fine up until recently. There doesn't appear to be any rust/debris in there. Guess I need to take them apart again Just wondered if there was a common fault.
Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted March 13, 2008 Check this asap. Where the flexy hoses attach to the inside wheel arch and then to the copper lines, has the bracket rusted away and the hoses are now rubbing on the tyre? Just a thought..
