Bakes100 20 1 Cars Posted March 7, 2008 Hi I have the gti6 engine with 6 speed gearbox in my 205. I was considering changing to an Mi16/Xsara VTS gearbox as I heard they have a shorter 1st and 2nd compared to the 6 speed! Also how much heavier is the 6 speed box? The turning circle isnt an issue as i have become used to it and it has the rack stop etc. Any views or thought are appreciated Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
James_R 3 Posted March 7, 2008 can't put a weight on it, but the 6 box is considerably heavier when lifting it up. Top speed on the Mi/VTS box is 20mph per 1krpm so 80mph is 4k, a 6 box is doing just under 90 at 4k for comparision. for a 205 the VTS box is pretty nice, but if you don't find turning circle an issue then kepe the 6 box Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I changed to an Mi box from a 6 speed as I was concerned about the lock. It could (and has) been the difference between a save and a spin on track. Although I really miss the ratios.
