anderoo 0 Posted March 4, 2008 I've searched but can't see anything relevant. I need to replace the gasket between the downpipe and the centre section but I don't know whether I need to get an Mi16 gasket or a GTI one, or if they're even the same!? I believe mine has a standard 1.6 exhaust from the downpipe back. Which leads me to my second question, are there any power gains to be had by changing the exhaust for an aftermarket one? I know that usually all you get is extra noise but with the 205 exhaust not being designed for the higher output of the Mi16 it's a little less clear to me? Thanks. Hello, the gasket between the downpipe and the centre section? never seen any with a gasket here before usually they are a push fit or you simply use some exhaust paste between the 2 mating faces then clamp them together. You sure you need a gasket? As for the performance system you might see a little gain but not much and the standard system will handle the mi16 power no bother, only replaced my standard system as it was fit for the bin and the new stainless Magnex sounds good and will last a life time.. hope this helps.. anderoo 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Sorry, I meant the manifold to downpipe bit. I assuming that as it's the same size either will fit...
taylorspug 7 Posted March 12, 2008 For the downpipe gasket just go and get a downpipe fitting kit for a 205 GTI from Peugeot, it comes with all the bolts, washers and gaskets you need, is top quality and under twenty quid. As for the exhaust a good quality std exhaust will be more than good enough for a std MI, they are good for around 200hp as it goes.
