my 205 is running spot on now, apart from, at rolling kind of speed, like clutch control, the car seems to jump around, just wondering what is causing this. Its very hard in slow moving traffic.

it's not the usual 'kangerooing' problem then?

its not as severe as say a missfire, its more , hmm, its really hard to explain, just feel a bit lumpy possibly , maybe its just usual 205 gti traits, im not sure

mine does it to if its the same thing, just the usual kangorooing i think, its the engine moving back and forward i would imagine some stiffer mounts would sort it if its bothering you.

My 1.6 did it very badly after I did a head swap. I'm sure the timing was right. It had a 1.9 cam but that shouldn't have caused it.

I suppose a leak in the inlet somewhere (manifold gasket for instance) could have caused it due to letting in unmetered air. GTI-Si has the car now and he did have a problem with the dizzy cap and rotor failing soon after so that was the ost likely cause. No idea if it was better after he renewed them.

With mine it was like the classic traffic kangarooing but 10 times worse. Cruising at 30 mph I had to stay a gear (or 2) lower than usual to keep the revs higher, as you couldn't cruise in 5th on a steady throttle at that speed, it would just judder. Every time the engine was loaded only lightly on a steady part throttle it would judder. Very annoying but I just learned to drive around it.
