MrG 3 Posted March 1, 2008 my 1.9 is running rich judging by the amount of fuel I have used (excluding my airfield day) and the colour and crap coming out of the pipe. How can this be adjusted (if at all?) or is the ecu playing silly buggers? My ecu says its chipped (written on the top part of the casing), are these any good? certainly feels to make no difference so would fitting a good used one sort the richness I think I am getting out? Coonper 0 Posted March 1, 2008 Id keep buying a new ECU as a last resort. Check for air leaks on air filter/manifolds etc... Also, maybe a clogged up breather pipes.
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2008 if it's Jetronic ECU then it can't really be chipped, only delimited. it's the messed-with or buggered AFM that could easily cause overfueling though.
davemar 16 Posted March 2, 2008 Might be worth checking the temperature sensor, as that may be telling the ECU that the engine is cold when it's hot. Don't ignore the ignition timing either, mine was a little advanced and put my HC readings through the roof and the CO up a bit.
