Where Is The Best Place To Get New Beam Shafts From?

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I need new rear beam trailing arm shafts  .

Service box is quoting £82 each!

Apart from going to a scrappy and chancing my luck with another pair what other options are there?

Thanks

Jonny

GSF, they have apparently started re-stocking them. don't forget you can get discount from a decent dealer, but then GSF can discount too.

GSF parts are genuine Peugeot and are £39 plus VAT. I bought one last month.

£39 plus VAT is much better, do you have the GSF part number?

Thanks

T42604 = Pug PN 517617. They call it 'RE SUSP ARM'

They will be tapered rather than stepped, so don't be alarmed that they are not identical to your old ones.

i found the gsf ones arent as tight fit in the trailing arm, best bet just go round a scrappy with sledge hammer and knock a few arms off until you strike gold, remember 306 ones are the same too

Okay, you are right; it might be worth going to a scrappy.

In that case, a few more questions, sorry :) .

Am I right in think that any 205, 309 or 306 shafts will work?

What sort of money ish does a scrap yard charge for a pair or trailing arms and shafts?

I know this is bit of 'a how long is a piece of string' question but at what sort of age/miles do shafts start failing, should I only be looking at 40,000 mile cars or can 80,000 mile shafts still be okay?

Thank you, again.

Jonny

Yes all of the above cars and citroen ZX. I'd look at the all as you never know.

If you take the torsion bars out first i don't think they'd charge much for a trailing arm and shaft.

Bear in mind the models use different toe camber settings so you will have to put the shafts into your arms.

if your smashing beams apart, go for the passenger side, theyre almost always in better condition than the drivers side.
