Atari Boy 11 Posted March 1, 2008 I have today stripped a rear beam and I would like your opinion on the shafts. I managed to get it apart really quite easily; I did not remove the offset washers is this bad? http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x151/At...oy/IMG_6027.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x151/At...oy/IMG_6028.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x151/At...oy/IMG_6036.jpg Am I in luck? welshpug 1,657 Posted March 1, 2008 looks like you got to it in the nick of time, bearings still intact but fookt, shafts dead too IMO by not removing the offset washers I gather you just removed the arms with the torsion bar still attached, you will need to remove them if you wish to set it at a different height to what it was originally. taylorspug 7 Posted March 1, 2008 Both shafts are knackered, although the tube looks like its salvageable. Basically any pitting/lumpiness/scoring on the shafts renders them scrap.
