Fuel Smell In Cabin ?!?

Recommended Posts

sorrentoaddict

Hi everybody,

as in topic title -- as of recently there is a strong fuel odour penetrating

the cabin of my GTI. Before I start digging everywhere, any ideas what

might be an 'obvious' cause ? :)

It was recently taken from a total respray, but could this be connected

to the respray somehow ??

Thanks for any clues,

Alex

Possibly the banjos on the fuel filter have just died? I have had a distinctive petrol smell in my 1.6 since replacing the fuel filter (poorly) which is on the drivers side.

Edit - just realised that you're in Macedonia so you'll have a Left hand drive car! Plus, you may even have the car MI'd so I've no idea where the fuel filer is on those. I'll be quiet now.

It could even be that you havent pushed the nozzle on the fuel pump down far enough when your filling up, this gives a really strong smell inside the cabin!
