sorrentoaddict 1 Posted February 29, 2008 Hi everybody, as in topic title -- as of recently there is a strong fuel odour penetrating the cabin of my GTI. Before I start digging everywhere, any ideas what might be an 'obvious' cause ? It was recently taken from a total respray, but could this be connected to the respray somehow ?? Thanks for any clues, Alex

Rupertfinch 6 Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) Possibly the banjos on the fuel filter have just died? I have had a distinctive petrol smell in my 1.6 since replacing the fuel filter (poorly) which is on the drivers side. Edit - just realised that you're in Macedonia so you'll have a Left hand drive car! Plus, you may even have the car MI'd so I've no idea where the fuel filer is on those. I'll be quiet now. Arahan 4 Posted March 12, 2008 It could even be that you havent pushed the nozzle on the fuel pump down far enough when your filling up, this gives a really strong smell inside the cabin!
