chrisj21 2 Posted February 28, 2008 Ive had my 1.9 now for around two months and have noticed that after the daily run home from work (around 8 miles) my oil pressure gauge drops to the last white mark.no lights come on.when started from cold and during the drive it sits at half way but when idleing it drops rite down. should i be worried? if so whats the cause? thanks
CaptainK 11 Posted February 28, 2008 Mine started doing that right before it died (oil pump death). BUT, best thing to do is check the sensors and gauges. I believe if you unplug the wires to the sensors and earth them to the engine or chassis that the gauge will read full. If it doesn't then likely its a dying gauge. To check you do have pressure, go to your local friendly garage who will have a proper oil pressure measuring system and get them to plug it in. This is how I found that my old 1.9 GTi 's oil pump had given up the ghost.
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted February 28, 2008 Perhaps a stupid question but where do they plug that into? Do they remove your sensor and screw their own one in?
