Injector Size And Aplication Help

Recommended Posts

M_R_205

lets start by saying i now sod all about injector sizes/flow rates/duty cycle etc.

Basicaly im almost ready to order a manifold and emerald ecu for my shiney new bodies, now after reading this..

"Injector sizing

As a rough guide to power output, take the injector flow in cc/min and divide by 5 then multiply by the number of injectors.

Example: 220cc/min divide by 5 = 44 x 4 injectors = 176bhp"

On the emerald site, and as im hoping to break the 200hp barrier im asuming im going to need around the 250cc/min, am i correct??

If yes does any one know what cars these came fitted to as standard? if im incorrec please advise :D

Paul

Make sure the nozzles on the injectors are spraying down each port throat if you use GTI6 injectors as they are twin spray injectors. ie. V instead of |

Ref your 'novice alert' cry, maybe I can help as I'm on the very interesting learning curve myself.

Included in all the Megasquirt stuff I'm having to read, is quite a lot of superficial and in depth explanation of practically everything to do with engine management. This means you can scan through and read as much or as little as you want.

This link will start at how an injector works, and then scroll down (if you want to skip all of the calcs) and you'll see about 'batch fire' etc. Enjoy... click massive!.

Good luck with your build. These are exciting times. And I would concur about using GTi6 injectors. Sandy has experimented with several in his Type-Rio and settled on them due to their spray pattern and performance.

Gti6 ones seem to "give" the operation of around 300cc at 3bar,despite being listed as 265cc at 3bar. I'm not sure if it's pessimistic flow rating by Weber, or if they quote flow at maximum practical duty, rather than 100% duty maybe. Perhaps it's just that they mix better than others. But several times I've installed that in lieu of bigger injectors and not had to increase the map duration as you would have expected.
