tjcgti 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Hello this is my first pug 205 and dont know alot about there characteristics, but when i push my clutch it needs to be pressed all the way to the bottom to get a gear change and is quite stiff. Just wondering if this is normal in pugs or not. Cheerz
jord294 92 Posted February 25, 2008 it may just need some adjustment. has the car been stood a long time with out being driven?
jord294 92 Posted February 25, 2008 personally then, if i were going to use a car that had been stood a long time, i would change cambelt, clutch, all fluids and filters and just give everything else a once, maybe twice over what car have you got?
tjcgti 0 Posted February 25, 2008 it a pug 205 gti 1.6. it had been standing for a while but not too long. i have replaced the oil filter, fuel filter and air filter, cleaned the spark plugs and gapped them, changed the oil and put engine cleaner into it. seems to run much better now as engine was racing a bit but now ok. think the cable might just need adjusting. smokey 0 Posted February 25, 2008 I asked a similar question when i first got my CTI. Your Clutch cable might have ceased up, you can get a replacement for not too much from GSF.

Phil205 1 1 Cars Posted February 26, 2008 Hello this is my first pug 205 and dont know alot about there characteristics, but when i push my clutch it needs to be pressed all the way to the bottom to get a gear change and is quite stiff. Just wondering if this is normal in pugs or not.Cheerz I had exactly the same thing with mine. The clutch cable tends to stretch with time or use. Adjust the clutch pedal position by tightening the nut on the end of the cable. A few turns will do. Loosen the lock nut before adjusting then retighten the lock nut in the new position. Takes about 5 minutes to adjust once you have two spanners of the right size. You will feel the difference when you press the clutch pedal with your foot.
