Wishbone/hub Bolt

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the specification for the nut and bolt that holds the pin of the wishbone to the hub carrier on a 1.6GTi. The threads on mine are all wrecked and I want to reolace them without having to pay whatever silly price Peugeot will want for a standard bolt.

Ridiculous prices?

How does 85p for the bolt and 67p for the nut grab you? Those are inc VAT.

0000692396 - Capscrew (bolt) - 85p

0000362230 - Self locking nut - 67p

From Pug.

(Beaten Welshpug to it for once, he must be on the bog or something  )

Yep go to peugeot for them, dont use any old threaded bolt as the previous owner did this on mine and the ball joint pin had slipped too far into the hole!

OOOPS I shouldn't have made that assumption!!!!!!!!!!! It's just that last week two springs for my TU24's exhaust cost £8!

Many thanks for your help, will go down the dealer this afternoon!

 I was uploading pictures of stuff I should have sold a year ago!

those 2 springs that cost you £8 would have been included in a kit of all the nuts bolts and firegasket for about £16...

when you do get the bolts for the wishbone make sure they have a shank, i.e the unthreaded part, some dealers have been known to sell a fully threaded bolt which isnt ideal for this application.

Cheers for the advice. I think the bolts I have at the moment aren't original as they are fully threaded.

I know the exhaust mounting set you mean, I bought one of those years ago and it doesn't work with the TU24 exhaust/downpipe connection which is only held together by two external springs and doesn't use the fire ring thingy.

Bit of an old thread but to save making a new one, are these bolts the save 1.6 to 1.9? I assume they are but want to be sure.

Yes, they're the same on both 1.6 and 1.9 GTi's - indeed I think they're the same throughout the 205 and 309 range, possibly 306's and others too.

306 have a different part number, and some of them are cheaper, but oddly are the same specification i.e M10 x 60mm bolt and an M10 nyloc.

And they've gone up, 94p and 75p now.

Crikey, I paid less than £1.50 for an 12.9 grade bolt & new nyloc nut for the balljoint.

Try a decent iron mongers / fasteners specialist & you should be able to get the nut & bolt for under £1 in the same spec as originally fitted or higher.
