steendp 0 Posted February 23, 2008 Hi. I have been trying to dismantle my bilstein coilover suspension, but in one of the strut bodies the damper is stuck. I've loosened the nut in the buttom of the strut, but it still doesn't move - even if I whack it with a hammer. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Thanks! Dan Ingram 1 Posted February 23, 2008 Do you mean the dampers stuck in the hub?
steendp 0 Posted February 23, 2008 No. The damper is an insert into the strut body.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 24, 2008 I have this on one of a pair of the Bilstein fixed platform coilover bodies I have. Both were seized but one came apart with some heat to the body & bruteforce but the bushes inside were well & truly dead. The other side still won't move so I might have to see if I can get some more bodies to use the two new tarmac inserts I have. Graham.
Craigb 2 Posted February 24, 2008 The inserts screw out . have you taken just the lock nut off ? If so then put the case in a vice and unscrew the insert with an appropriate allen Key
