Stu 18 Posted February 22, 2008 Other than the location of reverse, what are the differences? Can i use a BE1 box with a BE3 linkage?
Masekwm 2 Posted February 22, 2008 Other than the location of reverse, what are the differences? Can i use a BE1 box with a BE3 linkage? What about a BE1 box with a BE3 clutch? I'm in a similar position!
jord294 92 Posted February 22, 2008 be1 and be3 have totally different clutch release bearings, although the clutch and pressure plates are the same iirc
ccgoose 0 Posted February 22, 2008 i have a 1.9 box on a 1.6, lovely drive
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 22, 2008 BE1 has different reverse position (next to first, as opposed to below 5th on BE3), has lift-up reverse lockout, uses a different style clutch arm/fork meaning that the release bearing and clutch cable/pedal are different (although the friction and pressure plate is the same) Mi16 BE1 boxes are actually a mix of BE1 and BE3 - they use a BE3 style clutch arm/fork, but BE1 gears and lift-up reverse. Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted February 22, 2008 What about a BE1 box with a BE3 clutch? Yes you can do this, I have a BE1 1600 box fitted with the BE3 style clutch release mechanism, all the holes etc are there, it is just a case of swapping it all over.
Stu 18 Posted February 22, 2008 will a be3 remote find all the gears on a be1? is the pressure plate setup the same? Im thinking if i swap the arm from my be3 to the be1 it might work with the be3 remote? Otherwise im probably going to build a 1900/1600 hybrid as im having no luck whatsoever finding a be3 1600 box, its getting fookin' annoying now!
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted February 22, 2008 I've got a BE3 1600 box, but unless I get offered decent money for it, I'm keeping it, as I use that box in 2 of my 205's.
