petert 607 Posted February 22, 2008 I've been working on this for some time, trying to develop a replacement chip to suit my Stage I inlet cam. Very encouraging results for 139 and 158/161 ECU's . Less so for 354/355 ECU's, where the mapping is already very good. However, the extended rev limit is fantastic! http://www.taylor-eng.com/ecu/motronic_intro.html

VisaGTi16v 1 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) Would you class 7500 safe for a standard engine with just a different inlet cam for competition use? I seem to recall reading that the 4wd 405's revved to 7400 anyway compared to the 7200 for the 2wd's so its probably fine. Any ideas on prices for these? I have a bbr star chip somewhere that I got for £20 off ebay before but it retains standard rev limit so without trying on a rolling road its difficult to see if theres any difference without going out and doing some timing on a quiet road edit: Ignore the above, except the price bit, just read your cam timing page Edited February 22, 2008 by VisaGTi16v
Baz 421 Posted February 22, 2008 std rev limit on the mi16x4 ecu's are 7400 anyway.
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted February 23, 2008 Shame you couldn't have done a dyno run with a 139 really to show a graph of improvement there, though I can understand that because it would have meant changing looms.
nick 3 Posted February 23, 2008 I work that out at 129hp at the wheels, what does that make it at the crank? Nick
petert 607 Posted February 24, 2008 I work that out at 129hp at the wheels, what does that make it at the crank? On the same dyno, a GTi180 does 95-97kW. A GTi6 does around 88kW.
nick 3 Posted February 24, 2008 So it's looking to be around the 175-180 mark then, which is pretty good! Any idea on price? Nick
