Rear Wheels Rubbing The Arches

Recommended Posts

Picto_205Cti

hiya i have recently put a set of 32mm spacers on the back of my car to make the wheels as wide as the arches but everytime i give it a bit of wellie and turn or its a bumpy road, they rub into the rear arches the car has only been lowered 25mm and im still running on 15's. Is there any way of making the back of the car a bit stiffer.

Thanks

32mm is quite a lot... what wheels are you running?

you could start by shaving off the inside lip of the plastic arches and also like shimming up the bumpstops

but ultimately you'd need to uprate the torsion bars and antiroll bar, but it's an overkill to do this sort of

mods only to prevent wheel rubbing which you can easily sort by using 20mm spacers in the first place.

Are you sure there is no rear beam issue going on in the background and you have spaced the wheels out to stop the inside of the wheel rubbing on the inside of the rear arch ie the side of the boot space?

My car was fitted with a spacer biut only on the one side..............odd i thought until i looked at the camber on that wheel and it was clear the bearings in the beam had collapsed.

Just a thought.

I trust you have longer wheel bolts / studs to compensate for the thickness of the spacer? If not then your rear wheels may not be rubbing your arches any more it may be some other cars archers your rubbing with the run away wheel!
