mechsmurf 0 Posted February 16, 2008 i have a 1.6 gti with1.9 engine in last weekend i changed my hubs and shafts for 1.9 hubs and shafts as well as brake upgrade ever since i had replaced these i have noticed that the steering is realy light and i dont seem in control when cornering also when i gun it round corner or on straight the steering just thows its self from one lock to the other it just doesnt seem the same i have checked wheel bearings and trackrobs and ball joints but no joy i have also checked rack and all bushes i have heard that the hubs can oval would this cause this also when i first took her out after doing the work i had a squeeling on full lock for about 2 miles it sounded like cv joints had gone but there is no noise now i have carried out a search but cant find anything that relates Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

welshpug 1,657 Posted February 16, 2008 that would be the first thing to get sorted, my 205 behaved atrociously when I first fitted a new steering rack, got the tracking sorted the next morning and it was back to normal (well better than before as the rack was shot) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
