Big_Jimbob 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Hey guys, my glow plug light on my td takes a while to go out when the ignition is switched on.... id say about 20+ seconds.... Is this normal, is it new glow plug time? I also dont have the cold start valve on my bosch injector pump wired up as i am told i need a xantia or 405 thermostat housing with the sensor in... is this correct? thanks Jim
Grim.Badger 15 Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) I'm not sure about your second point, are you sure you need one? With regards the glow plugs, try pulling them out and giving them a wipe down. If they are starting to get pitted then they probably do need replacing. Edited February 15, 2008 by Grim.Badger
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 15, 2008 Thats pretty normal, I've never timed how long mine takes but it'll be around 15-20 seconds, especially when its cold outside. I find my TD starts even better if I wait until I hear a click from the relay box after the dash light has gone out. If I try to start after the light has gone out it takes a couple of cranks but if I wait until after the click it fires almost instantly. Graham.
